Desert Bloom Co-op envisions housing as a cooperative framework for collective well-being in Phoenix’s Central City South. Informed by shared site research conducted across the studio, the project addresses urgent challenges of food access, affordability, and urban disinvestment. At its core is a living, working co-op model where residents participate in the cultivation, stewardship, and exchange of food and resources. Housing is interwoven with community gardens, markets, and flexible public spaces, fostering economic and social resilience. By uniting sustainable design with cooperative structures, Desert Bloom offers a blueprint for self-sustaining urban futures.
